Our partnership with Safe Moves for Seniors

There are some calls that break our hearts at Paper Moon Moves:

“I really need help with my move. I don’t have anyone to help me, but…”
“I can’t handle this move alone, but…”
“I need to move because I’m so isolated here and I want to be near my family, but…”
“…but I just can’t afford a move manager.”

Over the years, we’ve tried to find a way to help people who have very limited resources. I’m not talking about people who could use a little help but don’t want to spend the extra money. I’m talking about people who truly have little to no support and little to no financial flexibility.

Years ago, we reached out to local banks to see if we could create some kind of annual scholarship program, where a bank would share the cost of our services and Paper Moon Moves would do as much as we could at cost, or for free.

But the logistics were always overwhelming, and the conversations never went anywhere.

Now we are finally able to announce that we have found a solution.

We have partnered with Safe Moves for Seniors, a nonprofit founded in Pittsburgh by a reliable and trustworthy move manager we have known for years. Through our membership in Safe Moves for Seniors, we will be able to provide a number of moves each year to New Yorkers who could not otherwise afford our services.

Safe Moves for Seniors shares our belief that seniors deserve more than a moving truck. They deserve a plan, a team, and a process that prioritizes well-being. And they deserve this support no matter what is in their bank account.

A move later in life isn’t only about changing addresses. It is often about changing identity, routine, and independence. That’s why compassion and communication matter just as much as logistics.

We’re grateful to be aligned with Safe Moves for Seniors, and to be able to offer New York City seniors and their families a trusted network of support when they need it most.
